Meeting – 19th May 2021

Today’s meeting was really insightful on so many levels so we’re proud to publish the highlights!

Linda gave a presentation today sharing before and after photographs of the work Surface Heroes does. There were many ‘lightbulb moments’ and an excitement to refer their connections from window companies, developers and families that drop bottles of Prosecco on the floor at parties!! Please head to the website for more details:

Alan from CBL Copywriting and SEO highlighted the necessity of being inclusive with our marketing and shared a recent BBC News article on Accessibility: Please do consider every potential customer when you are preparing your marketing plan.

Talking of marketing, Debbie shared a testimonial today which reminded everyone how important it is for us to have other people giving a reference for our products and/or services.
Martyn Brooke, Credit Management Specialist, says: “I have worked with Debbie over one year now in which time she has totally transformed and improved my Social Media. Debbie has repeatedly gone above and beyond to help me with additional tasks like Marketing, Blogs & videos. The fact that time has been spent by Debbie to really understand my business has provided me with the confidence to be able to bounce thoughts and ideas with her. Reliability, transparency and honesty are three important qualities that Debbie possesses in addition to her Marketing knowledge. I would fully recommend Debbie to anybody looking for Marketing & Social Media support”

Last week Claire Larkin gave us an interesting talk on the services and support provided by the Hospice of St Francis. They have a Corporate Partner Network with over 200 members and you can be a part of it for as little as £25 per month. This includes invitations to networking events including ‘Paella and Pimms’ at the Hospice on 22nd June (restrictions permitting of course). Please contact Claire by email if you are interesting in finding out further information:

That leads us nicely on to their fundraising activities! Did you know that only a fraction of their funds come from the government and that their services are free of charge for families requiring support? The Hospice of St Francis’ next big fundraising event is a sky dive and Linda has made the fabulous (perhaps crazy?!) decision to become involved. Here’s a link to her sponsorship page if you would like to make a contribution: – she’ll be falling from the skies on 3rd July.

Our meetings are fun, dynamic and, although we do stick to an agenda, we are a flexible group with lots of benefits. We love to welcome new faces, so please come along and join us when you can – booking is simple via our website:

Next meeting is Tuesday 2nd June 2021, virtually from 9.30am to 11am when Debbie Gilbert will be sharing her expertise on the benefit to businesses of entering and winning awards!

We’d like to end this blog with the poem written and read by Sue Mitchell for her one minute introduction this morning:

Feeling Sad and Feeling Blue

Very Down and Lonely Too

Nowhere to Turn, Nowhere to Go

Life is Hard, When Nothing Flows

Please Don’t Think You Are All Alone

Take a Moment to Look Around and See What’s Missing

There’s Always Someone Close at Hand

To Take the Time to Care and Listen

They say That Troubles Shared are Halved

And an Answer can be Found For You

Some Hypnotherapy to Ease Your Mind

Or Massage with some Reiki Too

Perhaps Just A Listening Ear

Whatever You Feel is Right For You
